Mr Ilya Shcherbakov, the first and only Vaganova-certified teacher in Singapore, leads the school's high calibre instructors as Principal of Ballet Classique. He is trained at the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Russia after completing his professional dancer’s training and professional teacher’s training degree there. After an illustrious Ballet career with the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich, Universal Ballet Company in Seoul and Boris Eifman Theater in Saint Petersburg, he is now a highly sought-after teacher and choreographer. His student, Henri Frey (now a dancer with Ballett Theater Kiel), was the only candidate to represent Germany at the Prix de Lausanne 2020 and received scholarships from 3 prestigious institutions.
Ballet Classique strongly believes in developing children’s interest and in providing the correct and best dance education from a very young age. The school wants to provide a well-rounded program for all students by giving them the chance to participate in
• Internal assessment with panel of esteemed examiners, consisting of professional ballet dancers and experienced ballet masters/mistresses
• International and local dance competitions from 6 years old, in which we have clinched top prizes since our inception in 2022;
• Master classes / Workshops conducted by internationally acclaimed guest teachers
• Overseas trips to visit renowned vocational dance schools; and
• Annual performances, where they get to perform in dance pieces choreographed by the instructors, and excerpts from famous Ballets e.g. Nutcracker.
